Steel module corner with a bolted lifting lug and wall-panel joint on a factory floor

Modular & portable buildings

Modular & Portable Buildings sourcing with a comparable scope

China supplier matching, quotation comparison and inspection coordination for offices, classrooms and camp rooms. ATCO Structures turns your dimensions, destination and fit-out requirements into a reviewable sourcing brief.

Review index

  • Design loadsWind, snow and seismic values stay tied to the destination, not to a single global figure.
  • Steel gradeCold-formed members and any hot-rolled link steel name the grade, coating mass and joint type.
  • Fire strategyEPS, PIR or rock wool is a core choice. A panel minute rating is not the wall, door and joint result.

Modular site offices

Relocatable building envelopes for a procurement office, meeting room or drawing issue room. Compare supplier drawings for usable dimensions, lifting arrangements and transport limits before choosing an envelope.

Linked classrooms and clinics

Permanent modular construction or a shorter relocatable term depends on the permit route. Corridor joints are drawn as thermal bridges, not hidden in the render.

Illustrative sourcing briefs

Hypothetical procurement examples explain the evidence to request. They are not completed projects or original-brand case studies. Quantities illustrate buyer briefs; all supplier specifications require documentary verification.

Camp brief A

FIFO dormitory block

Building type
Workforce accommodation
Country basis
Australia, site load report required
Quantity
48 modules requested
Delivery scope
Supplier comparison, packing and wet-core scope

A remote accommodation buyer might request forty-eight rooms. The procurement matrix would compare supplier floor plans, panel core, delivery terms and spare parts against one revision. The review output would be a shortlist with missing wind-load and transport evidence marked. No delivery duration, accepted test result or constructed project is implied.

Two-storey office inquiry

Building type
Portable site offices
Country basis
Canada, town-specific snow load required
Quantity
12 modules requested
Delivery scope
Stair, foundation and MEP interfaces

For a two-storey office brief, the supplier must distinguish module connections from the external stair and landings. Quotation comparison would isolate site electrical work, lifting gear and foundation bolts so the buyer can assign each cost. A qualified project engineer would review load paths before any purchasing decision; supplier matching itself provides no structural approval.

Building type
Education, relocatable modules
Country basis
United States, authority review required
Quantity
9 modules requested
Delivery scope
Accessibility, corridor and thermal joints

A school procurement team may compare linked classrooms for a temporary capacity requirement. Screening would request a project-specific accessibility plan, complete wall-system fire evidence and thermal-bridge detail at corridor joints. The coordination output would be an evidence register for professional review. A relocatable label does not remove energy or permitting obligations.

Sanitary brief D

Camp wet-room inquiry

Building type
Ablution and laundry
Country basis
Chile, corrosion exposure to confirm
Quantity
6 modules requested
Delivery scope
Drainage, sanitary fixtures and export packing

A camp operator could request six sanitary rooms with site drainage still under design. Sample coordination would compare a wall joint and wet-floor detail, while quotations identify who supplies traps, fixtures and final connections. Inspection would follow the buyer-approved checklist. The expected output is a defined scope, with drainage slope and coating repairs subject to supplier verification.

Where the same envelope is used differently

FIFO and mining camps

Dormitory, laundry and a dry office. Roster length changes the furniture package more than the steel envelope.

Construction site offices

Single or two-storey relocatable rooms beside an excavation. Stair and link steel are drawn with the foundation interface.

Portable classrooms

Linked modules with a corridor. Acoustic and access rules are destination items, separate from the 50 mm wall build-up.

Site clinics

A clinical room needs a floor load and a hand-wash count. The module size does not imply a medical licence.

Ask for a model number, not a vague building

Name the destination, the count, the storey and whether the wet core is factory or site. The reply is a file with gaps marked, not a blanket approval.
